Love was definitely in the air at a musical tribute show at Rothes Halls earlier this month.
For one happy couple who were among the crowd at the Magic of Motown show on Sunday, November 16 it was truly a night to remember.
As Steven MacEwan took the brave step of proposing to his girlfriend of five years, Lindy Graham, live on stage.
And the Gazette is delighted to report that she said yes!
Steven, a prison officer and mobile DJ, took time out from his busy schedule to make the grand romantic gesture to Lindy, a mental health nurse, at the tribute show to all things musical from the Motown sound.
The pair met while working in Perth prison five years ago.
Steven explained: “I enjoy Motown, and I’d been looking for something special with a bit of wow factor!
“Lindy had no idea I’d bought the ring, and I’d been thinking of ways to make a big proposal for a few weeks when I saw this show was on.”
He said that Lindy didn’t suspect anything at first.
He continued: “I’m always on stage, so it wasn’t a surprise when I got called up to dance, but it was when she was asked to join me!
“I’ve raised the bar for proposals - all the single men in the audience were getting a bit worried about how to top that!”
The couple are now looking to set a date for the big day in 2016!
A spokesman for OnFife, which runs the Glenrothes venue, said: “We at Fife Cultural Trust would like to congratulate Steven MacEwan and Lindy Graham, and wish them every happiness – and remind them that Rothes Halls is available for hire as a wedding venue!”
