Children at Parkhill Primary School in Leven have been cooking up a storm thanks to a new weekly reward programme.
Every Friday, each class from primary one to primary seven nominates its star pupils to enjoy a lesson in cooking, organised by staff members, giving them one more reason to enjoy school on the last day of the week!
At the Cookery Club, the children get the opportunity to try their hand at some new recipes using all fresh produce grown at the school.
The pupils have been growing their own food on the grounds for the last four years, and the school has recently revamped the Cookery Club to reward its star pupils each week.
Dawn Levett, pupil support assistant at Parkhill, explained:“Each week, we decide on a recipe using seasonal produce grown in the school garden.
“Favourite dishes include vegetable broth, potato wedges, and rhubarb crumble.”
She added: “The kids get great satisfaction in seeing food they grew themselves ending up as a tasty dish for them to enjoy and share with their friends.”
