Primary seven pupils from Aberhill Primary School have been channelling their inner Rockies during two recent visits to the new Denbeath Boxing Club.

The pupils visited the brand new Leven gym to punch some bags and practise their upper cuts, jabs, crosses and hooks.

And the kids were put through their paces by Archie Fleming and the rest of the club members during a fitness circuit.

It was the first time the Aberhill pupils had visited the gym and they even got the chance to get inside the ring!

FIRST Gibbs, P7 teacher, said: “It is a great sport that teaches fitness, strength coordination and discipline. We were very lucky to have had this experience especially with the Commonwealth coming up next year”.

Pupil Rebecca Wishart, who got to try out the pads with coach Nindie, said: “It was tiring, but great fun!”, while Ellie Scott said she “felt like a boxer, perhaps like Rocky!”

The club is on the lookout for new girls and boys to join them. Youth sessions take place on Mon & Wed from 5.30 – 7.00p.m. and on Fri from 4.30- 6.00p.m. For more info, email denbeathabc@yahoo.com or call 07766967260.
