There has been a huge demand to buy the replica strips that will be worn at #Allysgame - the tribute event at Stark’s Park on Sunday, April 10.
A match will take place between a Raith Rovers Select and a Legends XI in memory of the club’s former media officer Ally Gourlay, who died last month after a two-year long battle with cancer.
Now the match organisers have come up with a number of ways for fans to buy the strips which will be worn on the day, such has been the level of interest.
The original plan was to sell the strips on a first come, first served basis, but a number of fans wanted one to wear on the day of the match.
Replicas of the tops worn by the teams will now be available to buy from ACA Sports in the High Street at £40 per time, with all profits from the sales going to Maggie’s Fife.
Fans can wear the home or away kit, and goalkeeper tops will also be available.
The Raith Select team will be wearing jerseys bearing Ally’s name and the number 53, plus the legend “talk of the times, the love and the laughing” - a Barclay James Harvest song lyric which Ally adopted as his own ethos to living with cancer.
And because of the demand, the event organisers have decided to produce a white kit worn by the opposition legends.
They are now up for sponsorship at £500.
The cost will see your name on all 22 tops with the bonus that you will also get any strips which aren’t sold.
The game-worn jerseys will also be sold via ACA and will be available one week after the game.
