Good weather greeted a recent charity trek in memory of a well-known East Neuk man, which also raised money for a worthy cause.

A group of family and friends joined the Rotary Club of Antruther’s Coastal Walk, which covered 13 miles from Earlsferry to Crail. The shoreline strollers raised around £3000 for the PSP Association, to help research into the little-known degenerative brain disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, and also tackled the route in memory of Ian Birrell, the former Craw’s Nest Hotel boss, who died of the condition in October last year. Ian’s widow Elizabeth said the friends and relatives in her group kept her going and it was particularly touching at the end, where, historically, Ian would have been there to present the walkers with medals.
