It is a little gem tucked away at the bottom of the High Street and the food is fantastic.

We were greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly staff and were served not long after we were seated.

I like the fact that customers are given poppadoms with a selection of sauces to sample before the meal - it’s a really nice touch and the sauces are delicious.

What I like about the menu is there is a wide variety of meals to choose from with dishes to suit every palate.

For our starters my companion chose the lamb sekuwa which is a Gurkha style pan fried herb marinated lamb and I chose the chicken pakora. The lamb sekuwa was very tasty and had a fiery kick to it! The pieces of lamb were cooked perfectly. While my chicken pakora was delicious - the chicken was nice and tender and mixed well with the sauces on the plate.

For the main course I went for a favourite of mine which is chicken korma. My companion went for the chicken tikka masala. We both opted for coconut and pineapple rice and peshwari naan. The chicken korma was absolutely beautiful and the coconut and pineapple rice was the perfect accompaniment.

The sauce was very creamy and sweet and the chicken pieces were nice and succulent. While the chicken tikka masala had a sweet tomatoey taste and again was very creamy. The chicken was also very tender. The peshwari naan was very sweet and tasty. The portion sizes were ideal and we thoroughly enjoyed both dishes.

Although we were both fairly full after our starter and main courses, our server persuaded us to share a dessert. There were so many tempting choices but we were looking for something light so our server recommended either the mango or pistachio kulfi - which I had never tried before. We decided to go for the mango and it was absolutely beautiful. Not only was it very refreshing but it was deliciously sweet and you could taste the lovely mango flavour. It was the perfect dish to finish off the meal. We would highly recommend a visit to Annapurna.
