Oh, what a beautiful production! LAMA’s offering of the classic ‘Oklahoma!’ was almost unreconisable as an amateur performance.

The classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical, presented at The Centre, Leven, was another outstanding piece by the group, led by an equally outstanding cast.

Andrew Doig was an exceptional leading man as ‘Curly’ while Gillian Hewitt unquestionably shone as his love interest ‘Laurey’.

Kathleen Crowe was magic as ‘Aunt Eller’, while Gordon Taylor’s ‘Ali Hakim’ provided plenty well-executed gags.

The brilliantly menacing ‘Jud’ (Craig Spence) gave an extremely exciting and intelligent performance, with Jim Hannah providing some witty lines as gun-toting ‘Andrew Carnes’.

Keri Henderson gave a very strong account as indecisive ‘Ado Annie’ and so did her admirer ‘Will’ (Thomas Cape).

Lindsay Rowan completed the principal cast as ‘Gertie’, whose irritating laugh stole the show.

This performance had a top-notch ensemble which really enhanced the production and deserved a lot of credit. This hugely successful piece from LAMA had a simple but effective set, flawless choreography, great directing, excellent orchestra and a superb cast. Bring on 2015’s ‘Ragtime’... and ‘Sunshine On Leith’ the year after!
