St Andrews-based outdoors experience company Blown Away has scooped a prestigious regional tourism award - and a place in the national final.

Twins Guy and Jamie McKenzie (pictured above), the business owners, described their win as “awesome” as they beat off stiff competition from the Big Tree Society in Jedburgh and Dunbar-based Foxlake Adventures to land the Best Outdoor/Adventure Experience Award at the Central South East regional final of the Scottish Thistle Awards. Blown Away – which provides experiences such as beach kayaking, stand up paddling and kayaking at West Sands – will now go forward to the Scottish Thistle Awards final in March.

Guy and Jamie said: “We believe we provide the opportunity to try out new, fun activities in a relaxed environment with friendly instructors and good quality kit for both individuals and families alike.

“We feel privileged to work on West Sands and appreciate the partnerships we have built up in the local community.”

Manuela Calchini, VisitScotland regional partnerships director, said: “These awards recognise tourism talent and those going the extra mile to ensure visitors enjoy many brilliant moment while in Scotland. Our Fife winners demonstrate this in abundance”
