FOR the first time, ‘Chicago’ is coming to the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline this year.
Former ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘The Bill’ star Ali Bastian will be taking on the role of Roxie Hart when the award-winning musical comes to Fife from December 10-15.
Based on real life events back in the 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover and along with cell block rival, double murderess Velma Kelly, they fight to keep themselves from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer Billy Flynn.
Claire Fletcher, PR manager for the Alhambra, said: “Chicago is one of the most popular smash hit musicals and we are absolutely thrilled to be playing host to the show this December.
“Chicago is yet another smash hit musical to hit the Alhambra stage.”
Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sexy, sassy score includes the likes of ‘All That Jazz’; ‘Razzle Dazzle’; ‘The Cell Block Tango’ and ‘Mr Cellophane’.
The hit musical is now in its 15th year in London’s West End and this is the first time the show has appeared in Fife.
The national tour of Chicago will be produced by David Ian Productions in association with the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler.
Tickets for the Alhambra dates go on sale today (Thursday).
