Police are warning the public to make extra efforts to secure their homes after a house in Morven Park, Glenrothes was broken into yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).

Anyone who saw anything or anyone acting suspiciously between 1.30 p.m. and 10.00 p.m. in the area is asked to contact the police.

Furthermore, officers have reported that persons were also disturbed while entering insecure houses in Markinch at around 4.15 a.m. and Kinglassie at 4.30 a.m. this morning.

Inspector Derek Paxton has called on the public to make every effort possible to keep their homes and property secure.

“While we have brought a number of charges in relation to similar sneak theft crimes in the town recently, these latest incidents further highlight the need to secure your home,” said Inspector Paxton.

“Criminals will always look for the easy option and will take advantage of insecure properties if given the opportunity.

“Therefore I would ask people to check doors and windows are secure when leaving the home or in the evening before going to bed.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the incidents is asked to telephone Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800555111.
