Football chief Sir Alex Ferguson has been lined up to make an gala evening appearance at the Alhambra Theatre in Dunfermline.
The Mary Leishman Foundation in association with the Alhambra Theatre, Dunfermline have announced gala evening with Sir Alex Ferguson to be held in August. Football legend and national icon Sir Alex Ferguson will appear in conversation with a host of big names form across the football world, and with those who knew him best during his time as a player in the legendary Dunfermline teams of the 1960’s.
Sir Alex will talk about his memories from his time at Dunfermline in the 1960’s and his many managerial triumphs from his days at Aberdeen to the present day as he attempts to lead Manchester United to yet another League and European cup double.
Simon Fletcher, Manager for the Alhambra Theatre commented: ‘’We are absolutely delighted that Sir Alex Ferguson is hosting the Gala evening. Sir Alex is as big a name as has ever graced the Alhambra stage, and I’m sure that football fans young and old will be enthralled to hear the great man speak about his fantastic career.”
The event will be held in aid of the Mary Leishman Foundation and a charity to be chosen by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Jim Leishman MBE set up the Mary Leishman Foundation along with fellow trustees in honor of his late wife, Mary Leishman. The Foundation helps provide funding for worthwhile local causes and helps develop potential. The Alhambra Theatre proudly appointed the Foundation their chosen charity for 2011, and are in the process of planning a series of fundraising events to help raise funds, and awareness for the charity.
William Braisby, President of the Mary Leishman Foundation added: ‘’It is fantastic that one of the legends of world football is making an appearance on the Alhambra stage. When Mary Leishman passed away, Sir Alex called Jim offer his condolences whilst on Champions League duty in Milan, which is very typical of the man. We very much look forward to what promises to be a wonderful evening.’’
