The Scottish National Party has chosen Stephen Gethins as its candidate in north east Fife for the General Election on May 7 after a ballot of the SNP’s 1300 members in the seat.

Stephen currently works as a consultant on international development, and also served as a Special Advisor on Rural and International Affairs to Alex Salmond MSP, during his time as First Minister.

Speaking afterwards, Stephen said he was “honoured” to have been selected, adding: “This will be a vital constituency in May’s General Election and I am looking forward to getting out and starting my campaign and taking our message to every community in this seat.”

Stephen’s nomination was welcomed by incumbent MSP, Roderick Campbell, who said he was an “excellent candidate” and would be “a valuable addition” to the local team.
