A popular fundraising ‘Family Fun Day’ is set to return to Ceres this summer with the aim of giving something back to local people.

For the last two years the event has been held on Ceres Green, the first year being to raise funds for local boy Jordan Laing, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Last year the event raised funds for children’s cancer charity CCLASP, which played an integral role in Jordan’s recovery and support to his family.

Sarah Buttercase, who helped organise the event, said: “The support shown by the local community was quite simply amazing and neither event would have been the success it was without the generosity, encouragement, enthusiasm and support of the locals of Ceres and the surrounding areas.

“This year, we want to give something back to Ceres to thank them for their continued support over the last two years. We have decided this year’s theme will be one of ‘Celebrating Ceres’ to be held on Sunday, August 11 .

“We are trying to contact any groups or community services within Ceres interested in getting involved.”

If you would like to donate any prizes or volunteer on the day, contact the fundraising team via email Ceresfunday@hotmail.com orthe Facebook page ‘Ceres Family Funday 2013’.
