The national Community Sport Hub initiative, of which there are a number in Fife, to provide support and increase participation for sports clubs, is already proving to be a success.
The projects also provide information, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities to make it easier for local people to get involved and engage in a more active and healthier lifestyle.
Currently, there is one held at Kirkland High School and Community College and offers classes and support in football and gymnastics.
Mark Hood, executive committee member, said: “Fife Sports Partnership is in the final stages of refreshing a sports strategy for Fife following some great feedback from community sport providers. Developing local hubs and leadership skills has a vital role to play in improving how we deliver sport and encourage physical activity in local communities.”
Following an agreement with Fife Council in 2012 to offer community hubs in five areas, sportsscotland is now in the position to work with local sports clubs, facilities and communities to develop more Community Sport Hubs in Fife.
