Performers from a Glenrothes dance school have been stepping out in style to scoop a number of trophies at a recent competition.

Dancers from the Sarah Hendry School of Dance competed in the Kingdom of Fife Confined Championships which were held at Glenwood High on October 26.

The adult title was won by Candice Walker (18) from Leslie and the under 16yrs title was won by Elisha Scobie (13) from Kinglassie. Both dancers won their awards with three first placings and they will now go on to represent Fife in the Scottish Area finals to be held in Oban in May.

Sinead Scobie, also from Kinglassie, was third overall in the adults section and Millie McDaid (10), from Glenrothes, was fourth overall in the 12yrs section. Morgan Stevenson from Glenrothes was sixth in the under 16yrs section.

Sarah Scobie, who runs the Sarah Hendry School of Dance, told The Gazette the awards end a fantastic season where the dance school has had first championship wins by Sinead Scobie (17) at the City of Aberdeen Championships and Jaden Lenny (9) who won her first championship at the Dumfries Championships.

Meanwhile, pre-championships were won by Georgia Peacock (15), Jaden Lenny (9), Kirsty Stewart, Terri Scott (14) and Nikita Fabian (13).

Sarah said: “Candice won sixth overall in the Adult World Championship and Sinead was runner up in the Scottish National Championship at Cowal. Candice also won the adult league for most points at National Championship Events.” She added: “This is the best year we have had and I couldn’t have hoped for anything better. The trophies make all the hard work worthwhile.”

The Sarah Hendry School of Dance has been running for over 20 years. The girls train all year round at classes led by Sarah Hendry at St Lukes Church Hall, Warout, Glenrothes. Sarah Scobie has nurtured hundreds of youngsters through the Sarah Hendry School of Dance over the past two decades. And it has become an integral part of the community in the town and the surrounding area. Sarah teaches all ages and abilities from beginner to championship, pre-school to adult.
