A Burntisland couple who met at a local dance hall have been celebrating 60 years of marriage.

Albert and Dorothy Gunn, who stay in MacDonald Place, toasted their Diamond Wedding on July 11. Albert was born and brought up in Burntisland and Dorothy was born in Aberdeenshire but moved to the seaside town as a young girl with her family. The couple met at a dance and were married on July 11 1953 in St Columba’s Parish Church. They have one daughter Gillian who is married to Steven and they have one daughter, Christina. The couple have stayed in Burntisland all their lives except for a period where they lived in Kent when Albert was with the RAF during World War Two. They came back to Burntisland in 1977 to take over Dorothy’s parents’ newsagents and cafe. Following its closure, Dorothy worked for Tom Chalmers Shipping Agent and Forth Ports and Albert worked for over 23 years for Hurd Rolland as an archivist.
