Generous students and staff at Fife College have raised over £1700 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The college’s academy of hair, beauty, sport and fitness held a special fundraising day last month raising the £1758 through a range of activities including raffles, sponsored fancy dress, henna tattoos, sponsored waxing and lots more.

Three students who were particularly instrumental in raising the funds were Hayley Grieve (18), and Genna Botes (26), from Glenrothes and Lisa McIntosh (34), from Markinch. All three are studying SVQ Level II Nail Services.

Lisa said: “We were delighted with what we raised and couldn’t believe we raised so much in one day!

“It was hard work but also lots of fun. We would like to thank all of the students, staff and our families and friends who donated.”

The money raised will be added to existing funds already raised by the college. The fundraising activities will culminate in a fundraising ball, organised by the hospitality department, in April.

Christina Laing, head of department said: “Fundraising events are a great way to raise much needed funds and enable students to enhance their skills while having fun. We are delighted to be able to help such a worthwhile cause, which touches all our hearts.”
