Eating out in north east Fife could be entering a new course in history, with several leading pubs and hotels up for sale or seeking offers.
Well-known hostelries such as the Kinneuchar Inn, and the West End Bar in Pittenweem, are available for sale, while there is an opportunity to take on the leasehold at the Royal Hotel in Anstruther, which has already attracted offers.
The Lundin Links Hotel, which controversially ceased trading last month, is in the hands of liquidators, who said there had been interest in developing the premises.
The Kinneuchar Inn, in Kilconquhar’s Main Street is being marketed by Edinburgh charted surveyor D. M. Hall, with offers of around £355,000 being requested.
Going for just under £350,000 is the West End Bar in South Loan, Pittenweem.
Commercial estate agent Bruce and Co said the current proprietors hoped to retire, after running the businessfor over 13 years .
It had a strong customer base and there was potential for any new owners, thanks to its popularity with local people and the chance to extend the food serving hours.
Bruce and Co is also handling the leasehold for the Royal Hotel, in Anstruther’s Rodger Street, which is up for £15,000 minimum and currently under offer.
Eileen Blackburn, of Edinburgh firm French Duncan LLP, is the newly-appointed liquidator at the Lundin Links Hotel, which shut five weeks ago with the loss of seven jobs.
“We have secured the premises and, having taken advice from a number of agents, are presently considering various options for achieving a sale of the property,” she said. “We have already received a number of expressions of interest in this 21-bedroom hotel from various parties with an interest in developing the accommodation for a variety of alternative uses, attracted by its prominent position in a desirable residential location.”
