Excellent weather, a large crowd and a strong number of entries helped ensure Fife’s annual day at the races was a memorable success.
Punters gathered at Balcormo Mains, near Upper Largo, on Saturday for the Fife Point to Point meeting, which took place in first-class conditions.
“The weather was fantastic, we had a great crowd and the atmosphere was very cheery,” said spokesman Fiona Drysdale. “The bookies weren’t too happy, because four favourites won, but that was a great thing for all the punters.”
The return of children’s pony races had been particularly successful, said Ms Drysdale, and the ground was in great condtion, thanks to site owners the Gilmour family.
One spectator told the Mail there was a lot of enthusiasm for the races, adding: “It is always a good day out and fun event on the local calendar.”
