Over £1000 has been raised for a men’s charity as people across the East Neuk area showed their generosity once again.
A ‘great shave off’ was held after customers of the Anstruther Boathouse joined in last month’s ‘Movember’.
Movember sees men grow their moustaches and collect sponsorship to raise funds and awareness of men’s health issues, in particular, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.
Collection boxes were filled across the bar and restaurant as people showed their support.
At the shave off there was also an easy option for those not growing anything.
Moustaches were for sale over the bar at £1 each – an option picked up by men, women and children alike.
Tony Haresign, of Esquire Barbers, was in attendance to do the moustache removal job for both the real and the false moustaches.
Boathouse manager Blane McKnight said: “I am delighted we’ve managed to make such a good contribution to Movember. It has been a real team and family event.
“In addition to raising funds, we have managed to raise awareness of men’s health issues.”
