A 20-year-old Leslie man has been killed in a tragic hit-and-run incident, reports, NEIL HENDERSON.

Stephen James McCann was returning home from a night out in Glenrothes when he was knocked down by a car travelling on the A911.

The incident happened on High Street, Leslie, close to the Greenside Hotel at approximately 3.15am on the morning of Saturday, January 21.

A silver Ford Focus was found abandoned close to the scene and Fife Police confirm a man has been charged in connection with the accident and was due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Detective Inspector Stuart Walsh, leading the enquiry added: “It is believed that the car may have been in both Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes prior to this accident.”

Police want anyone with any information about this incident to call Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The road was closed for a number of hours while crash scene investigators recovered the vehicle and carried out enquiries.
