A DEDICATION ceremony has been staged in East Wemyss where a bench is installed in remembrance of prominent local man Bill Barker.

Organisations including the Buckhaven and Wemyss Parish Church and the Save the Wemyss Ancient Caves Society (SWACS), came together to honour Mr Barker, with around 50 guests also assembled.

Among those present were Bill’s widow, Jessie, and her extended family, including great-grandchildren.

Proceedings were led by Harry Cunningham, chair of East Wemyss and McDuff Community Council, who introduced Bill Wood, who spoke about the decision to buy the bench.

Mr Cunningham invited Jessie, Nancy Tod from the church and Moira Cook from SWACS to reveal the plaque on the bench, which had been draped with the Saltire flag.

Anne Greenlaw, Jessie’s daughter, thanked all who had honoured the memory of her late father.
