His grandmother said he was “a special person”.
Kristoffer was being driven in the vehicle on the A915 Windygates Road when it collided with a wall at around 1.45a.m.
The crash happened near to Scoonie roundabout and Lamberts Garage on the corner of Scoonie Road and Windygates Road.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Elizabeth McBay, said: “Kris was a special person to everyone who knew him.
“Kris was a popular and well liked young man.
“We loved him dearly - he always had time for his family and friends and his loss is very hard for us all to take.
“Many people have told us how special Kris was to them, and have paid their respects but we would now ask to be left to grieve in peace.”
A 22-year-old man has appeared in court on Monday in connection with the incident.
