LAMA's 2014 show is 'Oklahoma!'

Members of Leven Amateur Musical Association (LAMA are in the final stages of rehearsals for their March production of ‘Oklahoma!’ .

They’ll be performing in The Centre, Leven, beginning on Monday and running until March 15.

The 1943 musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein is set in the Oklahoma territory in the early 1900s. This celebration of frontier life is a story of tender romance and dangerous passion.

Curly (Andrew Doig) is a sunny, good natured ranchhand who loves the farmer’s daughter Laurey Williams (Gillian Hewitt), but the menacing Jud (Craig Spence) tries to come between them.

This the first Rodgers and Hammerstein collaboration features the classic songs ‘Oh What a Beautiful Morning’, ‘The Surrey With The Fringe On Top’, and the title song.

The main LAMA company this year welcomed new players who have joined from LAMA Youth.

The main troupe members players hope their youth colleagues will progress to the main company and continue the heritage of LAMA, now in it’s 142nd year.

Other principal cast members for the show include Jim Hannah, Keri Henderson, Kathleen Crowe, Gordon Taylor, Thomas Cape and Lyndsay Rowan.

Dancers include Lynsey Stuart, Callumn Stott, Jemma Guild, Kayla Cotterill, Brianne Harley, Shona Elder and Kirsten Stewart.
