Police Scotland have confirmed that the bodies of a man and a woman have been recovered from separate locations in Fife earlier today.

The body of a woman was recovered from a beach at Dumbarnie Links, near Upper Largo, after being discovered by a dog walker.

Later on, police divers using kayaks, who had been searching the River Leven since Monday, recovered the body of a young man.

Chief Inspector Graeme Kinmond, local commander for the Levenmouth area, said: “Police officers have been searching for two missing people, one reported to us on Saturday and the other last night.

“Formal identification on both bodies has yet to take place, however I can confirm that we have now stood down the searches.”

Police had been searching for missing teenager Thomas Brown (17) since Saturday after he vanished whilst out with friends in Methil on Friday evening.

Specialist divers were brought in to scour the River Leven on Monday as part of the search.

In a separate incident, 29-year-old Catriona Kennedy from Leven had been reported missing on Monday evening after last being seen on Scoonie Road at around 10.30p.m.
