Two people have been seriously hurt after a crash on the Glenrothes to Leven road, reports Mike Delaney.

A man and a woman were taken to hospital after being cut free from the wreckage of their car by firefighters after it had been involved in a collision with a tipper truck on the A911 on Tuesday afternoon.

An air ambulance was summoned to the scene of the accident, which happened just a few hundred yards east of Balgonie Castle around 1.20pm.

The road was closed in both directions to allow the emergency services to deal with the accident in which the lorry driver also suffered minor injuries.

No report on the condition of the other casualties has yet been released.
