Two men have been arrested and charged following a series of housebreakings in Methil.

In total 16 addresses in Simon Crescent, Ivy Grove, Pirnie Street, Grieve Street, Ashgrove, and Kirkland Drive were targeted between Tuesday, November 24 and, Wednesday, November 25.

Houses, sheds and vehicles were all broken into and various items of property were stolen.

As a result of Operation RAC inquiries, a 33-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were detained and subsequently charged in connection with these offences.

They were scheduled to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on today (Thursday).

Various stolen goods were also recovered and have been reunited with their rightful owners.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh of Levenmouth CID said: “I’d like to thank the public for their assistance during this investigation.

“I would also like to remind members of the public to ensure the security of their homes and vehicles, that they are locked and all windows are shut, and that all residents remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to Police, particularly over the festive period.”
