A KIRKCALDY graduate has been awarded a prestigious national accolade from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS).
Vikki Watters graduated from the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences at Robert Gordon University last summer with a Masters of Pharmacy degree.
The 27-year-old was selected ahead of her contemporaries from across the UK for the RPS Pre-registration Trainee of the Year award and she collected the award at a ceremony at the Commonwealth Club in London last month.
Vikki recently completed her pre-registration year at Boots UK within the branch at Fife Central Retail Park.
She said: “I was delighted to be nominated for the award, and so surprised when I was shortlisted and invited to the RPS awards dinner in London.
“It was a brilliant night which really celebrated success within the pharmacy profession - and it was very inspiring to hear all the achievements of the pharmacist nominees in other categories.
“I feel very fortunate to have been placed in a fantastic environment for pre-reg.
“My tutors and the team in my store really motivated me to build on the knowledge and skills I gained during my time at RGU, and were a brilliant support throughout the projects that ultimately helped me to win this award.”
Professor Donald Cairns, acting head of the school of pharmacy and life sciences, said: “This is a great achievement for Vikki and richly deserved.
“I’m sure everyone in the school will join me in congratulating her.
“Vikki was an outstanding student at RGU and I’m sure she will go on to be a success in the profession of pharmacy.”
