FAIR weather favoured a gathering of classic cars in St Andrews on Sunday.

The Scottish Vintage Austin Enthusiasts Club, in conjunction with the national Austin Ten Drivers Club, held a vintage and classic rally in the grounds of Madras College, South Street.

The weather was very sunny and warm which resulted in 24 cars attending, from the 1920s era up to the 1970s.

A special scroll which is travelling around Great Britain was signed by Sir Menzies Campbell, MP for North East Fife.

A spokesman for the organisers told the Citizen: ‘‘Sir Menzies spoke about his love for cars and those his father had owned, as well as taking great delight in the quality of the cars on show.

‘‘A large crowd also enjoyed the occasion and St Andrews car window flags and key rings were presented to the attendees.

‘‘The event had a real St Andrews flavour and theme and drew to a close just as the dark clouds were gathering - ending yet another proud day for the town.’’
