A TEAM of first aiders from Burntisland received a big thank you when they were reunited with a man whose life they saved a year ago.

Four members of the Burntisland First Aid Services Trust were given VIP treatment atthe Royal Highland Show as guests of director, Alistair MacMillan, last week.

The three men and one woman – Gordon Dow. Alex MacDonald, Mike McErlane and Sammy MacFarlane – who are all volunteers with the trust, met up with Alistair who they treated immediately after he suffered a heart attack at a Fife event last June.

He was unconscious and his breathing had stopped when the first aiders intervened.

Alex MacDonald, chairman of the charitable trust explained: “Our early intervention meant that we were able to re-start his heart following CPR and a series of shocks from our defibrillator..”

Following further treatment in hospital Mr MacMillan was discharged only 10 days later. and is now fully fit.

He has since made several donations to the trust to help it buy more medical kit and teach lifesaving skills s.

Mr MacMillan was alsokeen to meet the team of volunteers who had saved his life and say thank you.
