SCOTTISH Natural Heritage has submitted a planning application to build a visitor centre on the Isle Of May.
The planning application is for a new facility to provide shelter, seating and toilets for those arriving at Kirkhaven.
It will also function as a point where visitors can familiarise themselves with the island and plan how to spend their limited time during their trip.
The proposed structure would use materials in keeping with the natural heritage features of the island to allow the building to blend into the landscape.
The former lighthouse tractor shed, scheduled for demolition this month, has been identified as the preferred location for the facility.
