The community of West Wemyss came together recently for a lunch event to raise funds for local causes, and raise the profile of local ventures.

Volunteers from the West Wemyss Community Cafe, the Heritage Centre and the pub, along with the events group and Tots-to-Teens group, organised a sociable BBQ and community lunch in the village last weekend.

Stalls selling jewellery, plants and children’s crafts helped to make money for local good causes, while the event helped to raise the profile of both the cafe and pub, as well as the heritage centre, in the first event held since the re-launch of the community ventures.

Steven Patterson, chairman of the West Wemyss Cafe committee, said: “The volunteers did a great job on the day although it was very busy.

“We are very proud of all the volunteers but hope the event will encourage more people to help us during the busy summer season.

“We are able to offer help with bus fares for volunteers and also provide lunch and we look forward to welcoming more people to our friendly team.”
