No yarn was being spun to Largo Pre-School Playgroup when it heard it would be receiving a special £200 Christmas gift.

Youngsters and their playeleaders dropped in to receive the cheque last week from the Largo Baptist Church Knit and Natter and Coffee Club, which was holding its Christmas party.

The playgroup is spending the money on equipment and art materials.

The weekly Knit and Natter and Coffee Club was founded on behalf of the church about 18 months ago and has produced over a dozen banana boxes of knitted clothing for babies and children in Malawi, plus
soap and other items, along with hats, blankets and scarves for local homeless people.

Co-founder Nessie Logan said the members were also dedicated to helping local people and organisations.
