The election of a new chair has ushered in hopes of a brighter future for the Leslie Community Council reports, Neil Henderson.
At their AGM last week, chaired by Councillor Fiona Grant, committee member, John Wincott was elected, unopposed to the position.
Mr Wincott thanked his embattled predecessor, John Mowbray who stood down from the position and former treasurer, Richard Mowbray for their work in ‘reviving’ the council after what he described as ‘the turmoil of the recent years’.
John Mowbray will now take on the vacated role of treasurer.
He added: “It is now vital that the community council move forwards in a constructive and positive manner to ensure that we serve the needs of the people of Leslie.
“Leslie Community Council has a very full schedule for the next 12 months and aims to benefit the residents of Leslie in as many ways as we can.
“One of my goals for the next year is to increase the involvement of the residents of Leslie in their village.”
One immediate issue is that of road safety following a number of high profile recent incidents, including the tragic death of Stephen McCann in January.
As part of the ongoing investigation, members of LCC will be meeting with Fife Council Traffic Management and Fife Police this week to discuss what steps can be taken to safeguard pedestrians in Leslie.
