BOBBY Linn insists the Fifers are flying and says he can't wait to get cracking on with the new season.
The forward spoke with the Mail after his last-gasp winner over Brechin secured East Fife's passage through to the second round of the ALBA Challenge Cup.
Linn said it was a welcome relief to get the competitive season off to a winning start – particularly after the disappointment of going out of the competition so early last year.
He added: "Last season we got beaten in the first round by Forfar, so it's great to get off to a winning start.
"We've had a really good pre-season and everybody is feeling fit, so we just want to get on with it now."
Linn made up for an earlier penalty miss by stepping up with a last-minute free kick in extra time and added he was relieved to get the game out of the way after completing a gruelling added 30 minutes.
"Trust it to be the first game of the season," he said.
"But it was a great game to play in and we're happy to be through to the next round.
"The way it was going, I thought we were heading for penalties but I was delighted to get the goal in the end."
