  • Grubb takes the hot seat at Solway
FIFE Flyers are set to lose a key member of their coaching team.
Assistant coach Martin Grubb has told the club he is leaving the double play-off winners to take over the hot seat at Solway Sharks next season.

His departure will end a three-year relationship with Flyers player-coach Todd Dutiaume, during which
the pair guided the Kirkcaldy club to 15 trophies.

Dutiaume admitted that Fife will miss Grubb's influence.

"It's going to be difficult next season because with Martin I had a guy on the bench who I could trust inherently while I was out playing," he said.

"He had the respect of all the guys in the dressing room and he knows what it takes to win hockey games and what buttons to push.

"He was a huge part of our successes and I'll certainly miss him because I like hanging out with the guy. Our loss is by far Solway's gain."

Dutiaume expects Grubb to turn Solway into a more difficult side to beat next season.

"He'll give them a lot of experience and motivation, as well as respect from around the league," Dutiaume said.

"You won't only expect to see better results from Solway, but also decent young British talent attracted there. He's going to have a popular set-up.
