RAITH Rovers' bid to win the Second Division at the fourth time of asking will begin on Tuesday with the start of pre-season training.
The Kirkcaldy side's first get-together will be at Hearts' training academy at Riccarton as manager John McGlynn returns to his former club to kick-start a crucial campaign.
Speaking from Austria on his Euro 2008 excursion with the UEFA Pro-licence course, McGlynn revealed his plans for the squad's first session, which will see eight new players begin their first day at the club.
And the Rovers boss will waste no time in letting both the familiar, and the new faces know that there can be no repeat of last season's failure to reach the First Division.
"Our bid to win the league starts on Tuesday," McGlynn explained. "We'll set the ground rules in place, let them know what we expect, and go into it all guns blazing.
"There are a lot of new players so we'll be looking to integrate them as quickly as possible with the hope of getting the squad to gel.
"We'll expect the players to have kept in reasonable shape so Tuesday will be all about assessing fitness levels and we'll get them back on the ball by Wednesday.
"I'm not the type of manager who asks his players to run, run, run. Yes, there will be sprints, but we'll be keen to get the ball involved as much as possible."
Joining the squad for preseason training will be Australian right back Daniel Carter.
The 17-year-old impressed during a trial last season and is set to sign a one-year deal once he turns 18 at the end of August.
