AFTER four cup ties on the road, Tayport play a second successive home league fixture when Oakley United visit the Canniepairt on Saturday.

Willie Newbigging's battling side seem destined to be relegated this season, but, if they do indeed go down, they will not simply surrender points in the run-in.

They remain capable of producing favourable results and have beaten high-flying Camelon and Whitburn during this season's campaign.

When the sides met at Blairwood Park, the points were shared, both teams scoring late goals.

Lee Cellentano must have thought he'd won it for Oakley, only for Ross Gunnion to level deep into injury-time.

The last meeting on the Canniepairt is one which, from Tayport's point of view, is best forgotten.

'Port were on the wrong end of a 5-1 mauling and a repeat of that outcome is unthinkable.

Hopefully, Frank Conway will have a strong squad available and the return to action of striker Darren Scott is a bonus, as, following injury, he will be desperate to finally make an impact after a slow start at his new club.

Skipper Roberto Morris was not risked in Friday's League Cup final and Ross Gunnion was unavailable. Both will hope to be in contention this weekend.

Kick-off is at 2.30 p.m. and supporters should 'phone the club's newsline, on 01382 552755, for further details.

On Wednesday, beaten Scottish Junior Cup semi-finalists, Thornton Hibs, are due to visit the Canniepairt for an inter-regional Redwood Leisure Cup tie.
