Twenty20 double header at Falkland
THERE is a double header of Twenty20 cricket action at Scroggie Park in Falkland on Sunday.
At noon, Falkland are playing Dunfermline in the Murgatroyd Twenty20 Cup, the newly created national competition for the short game.
Then at 3.30 p.m. the same two sides meet in the 2007 Fife Cup final, delayed from the end of last season by the appalling weather at the end of August and start of September.
Twenty20 is the most exciting format of the game, and pitches together two teams in top form. Both are unbeaten so far in 2008.
Under Steven Fryer, the former coach of Queensland in Australia, Dunfermline are building a very strong squad, and they are formidable opposition for the Scroggie Park side.
Falkland, however, have strengthened their squad since last year, engaging New Zealander Tim Lythe as professional, and signing former Scotland under-19 wicketkeeper Sean Taylor from Edinburgh Accies.
Tim plays first class cricket for Central Districts in New Zealand, alongside the current New Zealand touring side, and is statistically the best player ever to play for the villagers. Entry to both games is free.
