AUCHTERMUCHTY’S Michael Simpson helped provide a dream finish to Scotland’s campaign at the IBD World Bowls Championships in Pretoria, South Africa.
Michael and partner Kevin Wallace from Clackmannan picked up the bronze medal in the B7 pairs category with a 29-8 victory over David Fisher and Gordon Welbourne from England.
The B7 class brings together the leading physically disabled bowlers with the highest levels of function and is the most competitive internationally.
With three gold and three bronze medals, Scotland finished second behind world champions South Africa in the prestigious team event.
Scottish Disability Sport considers this result the greatest ever achievement by a disability sports team from Scotland in a world championships in any sport.
Head coach of the Scotland team was once again Bob Dick of Cupar.
