THE FREEZING weather has wrecked Kirkcaldy Rugby Club’s preparations for this weekend’s cup game.
The Blues welcome Perthshire to Beveridge Park this Saturday in the RBS Caledonia Regional Cup, but the team has not trained in a fortnight.
Subzero temperatures have left the club’s pitches frozen, and placed the upcoming game in doubt.
Player-coach Quintan Sanft explained: “The game is still on at the moment, but the pitch has been frozen for the last week and a half.
“There aren’t any other facilities for us to use, so we haven’t trained at all. We haven’t even touched a rugby ball.
“That’s not ideal preparation for a cup game, but it’s still a game we can win.
“We lost to a last-minute score up in Perth in the league earlier in the season on a day we were missing a few boys.
“Those boys are back now, all we need to worry about is match fitness.”
After Saturday, the Blues have one final game left in 2012, a league game away to Musselburgh on December 22.
