Close encounter in prospect for ‘Port

TAYPORT will again be in East Super League action when they host Bo’ness United on the Canniepairt tomorrow.

When the sides last met almost two years ago, Bo’ness looked doomed to relegation from the top flight while Tayport seemed to be heading for safety, especially after a Ronnie Kenneth hat-trick saw ‘Port record three vital points.

Incredibly, as it turned out, Bo’ness survived and it was the Canniepairt outfit who dropped a division.

Then, as ‘Port battled to promotion last season, Bo’ness actually went on to clinch the Super League championship, representing an amazing turnaround in their fortunes.

Last weekend, the champions lost 2-1 to great rivals, and league leaders, Linlithgow Rose.

STRONG

In the current table, Bo’ness and Tayport both sit on 14 points, but the Lothians outfit have two games in hand.

‘Port boss Willie Garner will hope to have a strong squad from which to select.

Brian Livie, who has missed the last two matches, should be available this weekend.

Tomorrow’s East Super League fixtures:

Tayport v Bo’ness United; Newtongrange Star v Camelon Juniors; Kelty Hearts v Linlithgow Rose; Bathgate Thistle v Forfar West End.

Kick-off at the Canniepairt is scheduled for 2.15pm.
