KINROSS athlete Eilidh Child failed in her attempt to reach the final of the 400m hurdles at the World Championships in South Korea.

The 24-year-old finished in sixth place in her heat in Daegu on Tuesday, with only the first two competitors qualifying for the final.

Child – who took the silver medal in the event at the Commonwealth Games last year – has put her career as a PE teacher at Perth Grammar School on hold to concentrate full-time on her preparations for Daegu and the 2012 Olympic Games in London..

Meanwhile, Andrew Lemoncello from Ceres runs in the marathon in Daegu on Sunday, the final day of the championships.
