Falkland Cricket Club were absolutely flying across the weekend with a couple of impressive wins.

The side was in Eastern Premiership action on Saturday when they travelled to face RH Corstorphine before then playing Perth in the Scottish Cup 24 hours later.

At Corsorphine Falkland opened and scored 202 all out after 47.4 overs with captain Safyann Sharif scoring a superb 101 not out from 96 balls.

Jack Henderson with 41 and Brock Ditchmen with 26 helped reach the total.

Corstorphine’s Daniel Payne returned bowling figures of 7.4 overs, one maiden, six wickets for 31 runs.

In reply Corstorphine were all out for 162 after 46.2 overs.

J. Marne with 46 and O.Malik 36.

For Falkland, Clote Buitendag returned bowling figures of 10 overs, four maidens, three wickets for 16 runs.

Ben Strachan returned 9.4 overs, one maiden, four wickets for 22 runs.

The side then moved into the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a thumping 224 run victory over Perth Doo’cot.

Falkland had no hesitation in batting and went on to amass 270 runs for the loss of only four wickets in their allotted 50 overs.

The undoubted highlight was Jack Henderson’s magnificent 137 not out.

Jack batted throughout the innings and was well supported by captain Sharif who followed up his own century on Saturday with a well constructed 65.

The total looked beyond the Perth side and it became an even bigger mountain to climb when seamer Ryan Hepburn claimed a wicket with the first ball of the innings.

The home side never recovered and Ryan three for 21 and Brock Ditchmen four for 16 completed the rout in double quick time with the hosts bowled out for 46 runs.

Greg Chambers picked up his first wicket for the senior side. Falkland are at home in the next round against either Ferguslie or Heriots whom they play tomorrow in an Eastern Premiership match at Scroggie Park at noon.
