Local bragging rights are at stake as a junior football derby takes place in Thornton tonight (Wednesday).
A good crowd is expected at Memorial Park as Thornton Hibs entertain Kennoway Star Hearts in a McBookie.com East Premier League fixture which kicks off at 7.00 p.m.
The clubs have become close rivals since Kennoway Amateurs merged with Star Hearts AFC in 2013 to form a new junior side based in Star of Markinch.
After a closely-fought title race, both clubs were promoted from the North Division last season – Thornton as champions – while both have collected three points from their opening three Premier League fixtures.
The previous derby fixture, played in March, ended in a 4-0 away win for KSH, so revenge is sure to be on the minds of the Hibs players and coaches.
Warout Stadium also hosts a game tonight with Glenrothes entertaining Brechin Vics in the North Division.
Glens have collected four points from their opening two games and sit in second place behind Coupar Angus.
Saturday’s league fixtures see Thornton entertain Oakley United, KSH travel to Dalkeith Thistle, while Glens are idle after opponents Luncarty went into abeyance.
