Macbride sees his effort come back off the bar.
Macbride sees his effort come back off the bar.

Glenrothes Juniors 0, Dundee North End 0

Glenrothes kicked off with the same team that defeated Hermes in the Scottish Cup last week.

The Glens started the match very much in control but their final ball was letting them down.

A good run from Jackson broke down on the edge of the 18-yard box. Meanwhile, as the away side fought to get into the game, an effort from McLennon was saved at the near post by Gay.

Kinnes was making great runs up the right but was halted each time by the Dokens defence.

Another chance came with a long-range rocket by Macbride going just wide.

An excellent cross from Kinnes was headed just past for a corner and Glenrothes were finding it very hard to break down a solid defensive performance from the Dundee side.

North End were getting the odd counter attack in with an effort from Richie which sailed over the bar then, from a corner kick, Rae headed over. The last chance of the half fell to Jackson, who shot well wide of the target.

The second half got under way with a cross from Moffat being met by Kinnes, who saw his effort cleared off the line.

A long ball had Gay rushing from his goal to clear the danger.

The Glens onslaught continued with an effort from Martin punched clear by Kelly.

The away side broke away again against the run of play only for Anderson to make a last-ditch tackle to save the day.

From yet another corner, Macbride headed over.

Glenrothes continued to pound the Dundee North End goal when Napier’s powerful header was saved by Kelly.

Martin came close when he hit the crossbar from a Wallace corner.

The Glens could have taken the lead only for the ‘keeper, who stuck a leg out to send the ball over.

Kinnes continued to get his crosses over but there were no takers. Another cross was deflected for a corner which came to nothing.

On another breakaway, Gay had to rush to clear from his goal to clear.

Glenrothes conceded a free kick in a dangerous area but the defence stood firm.

In a game where the Glens were very much on top, they must be wondering how they never scored a goal.

Their next match is away to Dundee Violet with a 1.45 p.m. kick off.
