GORDON Chisholm reckons the Fifers have signed a gem in loanee Bobby Barr.
Barr, who is highly rated by the fans of parent club, First Division Livingston, joined the Fifers on a three-month loan deal this week.
And the winger introduced himself to the East Fife support in style on Saturday when his fine chip drew the Bayview side level with Ayr United.
Unfortunately, East Fife were unable to build on the goal and ended up going down 3-2 to leave them in bottom spot.
Chisholm told the Mail he was delighted to be able to bring tricky forward Barr to Bayview.
He said: “Wee Bobby has a great enthusiasm.
“We decided to play him wide and he showed the quality that he’ll bring.
“The only pity was we weren’t able to get him on the ball as much as I’d have liked, so we then had to put him through the middle and he ended up scoring a great goal.”
Barr has been responding to messages of support from both East Fife and Livingston fans on his Twitter profile, @bobbler11.
He says he’s looking forward to his time at Bayview, where he hopes he can “get back to enjoying football.”
Chisholm was unable to hide his frustration at Saturday’s defeat and again hit out at the slack defending which cost his side three goals.
He said: “We got off to a great start but seem to just shoot ourselves in the foot at times.
“The commitment was spot on but we gave silly goals away. Our decision making needs to be better.”
This week, the Fifers travel to Stranraer in search of their first league win.
Craig Johnstone is expected to continue his recovery from injury.
