The Fifers celebrate Nicholson's goal.

East Fife travelled to Stonehaven in the first round of the Scottish Cup.

The Fifers didn’y settle, were struggling to get into their game, and were frustrated when Stonehaven went ahead on ten minutes.

This goal only served to fire the Fife team in to action and they levelled four minutes later through Nicholson.

Fife made a change in the 44th minute with McAdam replacing Penman and one minute later went ahead.

Good play from Dawson released a midfield runner, who then found Nicholson, and she got her second firing high in to the net.

A relaxed, but more determined East Fife team started the second half in much better form, and extended their lead on 46 minutes.

Wheatley played her way into a good central position firing from 35 yards beyond the keeper.

On 53 minutes is was the first of a second half hat-trick for Skivington.

A Guppy cross played deep to the edge of the box was volleyed from a tight angle back across the goal and high in to the net.

On 66 minutes Anderson got on the scoresheet when a MacKenzie lay off was blasted high in to the net from 35 yards.

Two minutes later, Skivington got her second goal of the game, and a beauty it was.

A Bryant cross from the left again found Skivington on the edge of the box, who brought the ball down on her chest, volleyed it back over the defenders head, and then hit a low right footed volley beyond the keeper.

Bryant got a goal on 78 minutes, Nicholson got her hat-trick before Skivington then got her hat-trick, too.

Player/boss Liz Anderson said: “I was very disappointed with our first half performance. I am not sure if it was complacency, or if the girls weren’t up for it, but we were very poor. I was always confident that we would win the game, but I want us to win playing good football.

“As a defender, I hate losing goals, and the goal we lost was error, followed by error. The girls I pulled up from the reserves were very good when they came on, and showed the strength we now have at our club. We have a few players really hitting form now.”
