A former Methil man – still a passionate East Fife supporter – will reach dizzy heights next year in a bid to raise funds for the club’s youth development programme.

Jock McInnes (57) will be climbing Mount Toubkal in south western Morocco as part of the fundraising challenge next summer.

Climbing the mountain, which is the highest in northern Africa at 13,671 feet, should take the team just over a week. Jock, a former Black Watch Sergeant with a number of mountain challenges already under his belt, said the climb is not for the faint-hearted, but added: “No matter what the trip throws our way, I’ll just get on with it!”

Jock, who still works in the area, is looking for more Fifers up for the challenge, including supporters from Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic. Phone 01738 551020 or email abseil@hotmail.co.uk.
