East Fife travelled to the Celtic Training Academy in Lennoxtown to face Celtic in their League Cup semi final.

East Fife went in to the game as underdogs with Celtic fielding a number of youth internationalists, but shocked the hosts by taking the lead on eight minutes.

A switch of play from Wheatley found Skivington, who released Guppy and with lightning pace was through on goal to place an unstoppable shot across the Celtic keeper.

On 25 minutes Celtic levelled when an attack from the left found McDonald on the edge of the box who turned and blasted home.

Celtic started the second half looking to get a lead in the game for the first time which they did when McDonald rose above her marker and headed a powerful effort home.

Fife responded well and we’re back level on 55 minutes.

Guppy made a good run down the left before cutting the ball back for full back Dickson.

Her fantastic cross found Wheatley’s run in off the opposite flank and she caught the cross on the volley to delicately lob the keeper.

On 65 minutes East Fife went ahead through Skivington.

Tennant got the ball from a throw on the half way line before turning excellently and playing in McAllister. Her accurate pass played Skivington in before she beat a player and blasted in at the near post.

East Fife will now face Hibs in the Final of the League cup on June 2.

Player boss Liz Anderson said: “I couldn’t be happier with the effort from my girls. Nicholson and Guppy in particular were outstanding.”
